Barry’s areas of expertise include: the theory and practice of community development; program development and administration particularly in Indigenous communities and rural and remote areas; applied social research in Indigenous and rural and remote communities; Indigenous housing in remote areas; social and community impacts of disasters; preparing for pandemic influenza; professional facilitation; social policy training and education; and government relations and processes.

Barry is an Associate Researcher with the Australia Catholic University in the Centre for Child Protection Studies, and the Executive Director of Our Community’s Integrated Grants Management Service providing expertise, advice and services for grant managers.
